Arranging Popular Tunes for Mountain Dulcimer
Wednesdays 1 pm MDT Beginning July 14th, 2021.
Using the skills and techniques I honed in creating First 50 Tunes You Should Play on Mountain Dulcimer for Hal Leonard (due out later this year), we'll sample some of those arrangements and work on tunes of YOUR choice.
A step-by-step over 6-weeks progressive approach yields the "stickiest" learning.
Screen to Screen Zoom Class, PDF handouts, .mp3 files for priming the pump and reinforcement, archive videos of classes each week.
The tunes in this workshop have sold out in on-live festivals. Let's equip YOU to have the skills to be able to do for yourself!
How the Tunes Work
Paying attention to the hooks, chords, navigation and song forms of popular songs
How the Dulcimer Works
The dulcimer's diatonic fretboard is actually well-suited for playing many popular tunes. This workshop will help us strategize ways to play other tunes that we know.
How to Create Playable Arrangements
that keep the flavor of the tunes from the jukebox of our life.
Steve Eulberg has over 40 years of experience
discovering, playing and teaching mountain dulcimer. He earned a Master of Music Education from Boston University with a goal of teaching traditional music on traditional instruments.
The traditional way of learning is...
knee to knee or in our case, screen to screen.
Students will receive .mp3 sound files to listen before class to the tunes we'll be learning, together with the reinforcement of written tablature.
Finally, a video archive of each week's session is provided to students as well.
The Dulcimer Community is welcoming....
This course gives you the skills to enter into jam sessions of traditional music and strum along with enthusiasm and joy!
